Day 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24

I'm a little behind. Sorry. Been really busy!

Day 19: Nicknames you have and why you have them

Nicky is really my only nickname. Ask my mom why I have it haha. Mom also calls me Nicola. And Spencer calls me Nini. Justin called me Nicker the other day, but I don't think that one will stick.

Day 20: Someone you love

My nieces and nephews. Duh.

Day 21: A picture of something that makes you happy

Shawn Horcoff. Bet you thought I was gonna do a picture of Spencer or something, right? hah

Day 22: What makes you different from everyone else

I'm me. Doesn't that make everyone different from each other?

Day 23: Something you crave a lot

Attention haha. I don't know. Pickles? I always want pickles.

Day 24: Your last five facebook status'

1. doesn't feel good but Merry Christmas!
2. is watching While You Were Sleeping with the girls.
3. always has fun with Kelsey Jensen and Dianna Nielson. Oh, and Justin Watson tagged along too.
4. had a fight with a door.... and lost.
5. isn't going in to work today. Which means she is officially unemployed. Now I go back to bed.

Day 16, 17, and 18

Day 16: Another picture of yourself

Day 17: Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why

I don't think I want to switch lives with anyone. There's no one I envy or anything like that, so why would I want to switch?

Day 18: Plans/Dreams/Goals that you have

I've learned not to really make plans haha. At least long term plans. Nothing goes as planned, so why try? I guess goals would just to be happy. Who cares where my live takes me, or what I'm doing, or who I'm with as long as I'm happy. Within reason, I guess. I would like to get married one day and own my own business, but that's as much "planning/dreaming/goals" I've had haha.

Day 13

Day 13: A letter to someone

Dear Santa,

Please bring me a husband. That's all I want for Christmas this year. Well, not even a husband really. Just bring me something amazing. Just something good to happen to me would be great.

Ps, i'm not complaining about my life. I'm very lucky and grateful but having something amazing happen to be would be great. Thank you.

Love, Nicky.

Day 12

Day 12: How you found out about blogger and why you have one

I think Chrissy and Tina got blogs and then I decided to start one. Mainly because I take a lot of pictures and this was a way to share them, and have mom see them without having you email them all to her. Hence why I don't usually talk about myself. I just like to show off my cute nieces and nephews.

Day 10 and 11

Day 10: Songs you listen to when you're sad, happy, mad, hyped up, bored

I don't think I really have certain songs I listen to. But I know I listen to Hanson most any mood haha. I used to listen to a song called "I hate everything" By the Suicide Machines when I was angry/mad/sad but it swears a lot so I don't listen to it anymore. But I guess I'll listen to Trapt or Alkaline Trio when I'm angry/mad/sad and Hanson or country for anything else haha.

Day 11: Another picture of you and your friends

Me and Kylee at Temple Square last week

Day 9

Day 9: Something you're proud of in the past few days

I'm gonna say going through the temple. Even though that was almost a week ago. That's a few days, right?

Besides that, not much worth nothing has happened in the past few days. Except me putting my two weeks notice in at work. Smartest thing? Maybe not. Right thing? I think so. I don't have a job lined up until Feb. but I can make it. I'm gonna contact the temp agency and see what I can get for January to just get some extra money.

Exciting life, eh?

Day 8

Day 8: Short term goals for this month and why

My short term goals for this month are just to get through this month. Why? Because it's going to be the longest two weeks of my life.

I'm not really a goal person, maybe I need to be. But I don't like being disappointed so I tend to not make goals for that reason. As long as I'm mostly happy at the end of the day, i'm good. I've never been one thats like "by this time, i will have done this" I think it's pointless to put that much pressure on yourself. What if it doesnt happen? That doesn't mean you failed.

And when something great does happen, it's like yay something great. Instead of boo i failed. See. logic is my friend.

Day 6 and 7

Day 6: Favorite superhero and why

I don't think I have one. Really. I like Batman though. But only because in school I remember everyone wearing Superman stuff and saw a kid wearing a Batman shirt and was like HE'S SO COOL! Everyone likes Superman and he likes Batman. Lame. I know.

Day 7: A picture of someone/something that has had the biggest impact on you

Need I say more?

Day 2 and 3

I missed yesterday but its okay! haha

Day 2: The meaning behind your blog name
Day 3: A picture of you and your friends

Meaning behind my blog name? Well, it's Nicky. So really, whats the meaning behind my name? Ask my mom if you really want to know!

Picture of me and my friends.

This was one (if not the first) picture of the four of us! haha It was taken at Summit (a singles conference)

15 Random Facts:
1. I hate Odd numbers. Yes, most of you know that, but did you know I won't add just one person to facebook? It has to be 2 (or 4,6.8..) at a time. I've had people wait like a week til I added someone else.
2. I'm a picky eater, but mostly because I don't like trying new things.
3. Jiri Fischer is my favorite hockey player ever. I wish he could still play.
4. I hate having things on my feet. I would much rather be cold then where shoes.
5. But I love slippers.
6. I think I was born to be an aunt, not a mom.
7. I hate not knowing what's gonna happen next (hi, then I can't prepare for it) but I'm learning more that just because i can't prepare for it, doesn't mean it's a bad thing.
8. I'm left handed, but do most things right handed.
9. I love my calling because I get to plan the activities, but don't have to do them.
10. I used to never be friends with girls, but now three of my best friends are girls.
11. All the dates I have ever gone on have been blind double dates. (excluding one, which was a second date but I don't count it haha)
12. I want to own my own business one day. That way I can be the boss and rich!
13. I rarely finish books. I start like 5 at a time and never finish them.
14. I want to get a beagle and name him Segal. I will get that one day.
15. And... I love cooking/baking but rarely eat it.

Annnnnd I'm done. :) Everyone should do this! It's a different take on blogging.

FHE

So, as some of you may know (and others may not, I don't know who reads this!) I am the "ma" other FHE in the Singles Ward. It's fun because I get to come up with all the ideas, but yet not actually have to do the activities! Best of both worlds, IMO.

But man so I ever feel like a mom sometimes! I wonder if I can discipline my "kids"? That would be nice. Put them in the timeout corner.

Last night was a tough one, which I knew it would be. Without going in to details, let's just say I have to excuse myself for a minute. Haha. But really, the issue is people not listening. Or people trying to talk over me when I'm trying to explain directions. I actually had one person try and talk over me (hi, if anyone has heard me talk, I talk loud so to talk LOUDER then me, you must be yelling) and then after I was done talking go "wait, what are we doing next week?" I told them to figure it out themselves because I was not repeating myself.

So, the point of this post is - what activities could I do that would promote listening? I don't want to do a Simon says type game because then what would people do once they got out? They'd probably talk more so it would be harder of those who were still in the game to listen. I guess if I found something else for them to do once they got out, it would be okay?

I don't know. I've done team building stuff, I've done random fun stuff, I've done field trip type stuff. But I really feel I need to do a listening type of activity. I just don't know what.

Also, any other FHE ideas anyone wants to share would be nice!

Real blog update?

Doubt it. Nothing new is really going on in my life. Going to school, working, welcoming a new niece, planning FHE for the singles ward. The usual. I have actually almost been working at the same job for a year. Longest job I've ever had! Anyway, mom wanted pictures of Morgan so here is a link to my facebook album for her. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Kimmie! Can't believe you're already three! I wish you lived closer so I could spoil you more, but this post (and a phone call later haha) is gonna have to do! So yes, happy birthday!

This picture was the weekend of her blessing. I don't think she liked that hat!

I believe this was her first Christmas.

First Birthday

And sadly, this is the most recent picture I have of us two and this was in Portland for Davids Blessing!

Anyway, Happy Birthday, Kimmie. I love you and will see you in a couple of months!!

Blogging from work.

So lately I have tried not to comment on people's status' on facebook because there is always that one person that is a jerk and thinks that their opinion is always right. Well, I hate to break it to them, but opinions can't be wrong.

For example - a friend posted if those "teach your baby to read" things were worth the money. Her son is 2, and won't sit down to read the flash cards and she was curious. I didn't a little research (like, two minutes to just see what age skill was reading) and found out that reading is a 3-5 year old skill and not to worry if they don't read before then. I told her that. I said that he is 2, and probably isn't interested in reading, so they "force" him into it when doctors say you shouldnt worry about it until at least 5. That could turn him off to reading, and learning, possibly which is what you want to avoid as a parent, right?

Someone else commented and said yes, they help you "read" but really it's just memorizing which isn't good. Someone else commented all like they DO work! We are so far behind in learning in the US so anything to help him get a leg up (im paraphrasing here) is a good thing. Ps most doctors don't know what they are talking about.

That PS part is what annoyed me. Now, I don't think the school systems are OMG AMAZING in the US, but I think a doctors know a thing or two. They don't know everything, no, but thats why they have their specialties. So, if someone is a pediatrician, they know a thing or two about age skills. That's their job. That's all they do is work with kids. That's one of the big things they are supposed to know.

Yes, there are exceptions to those. Hi, Emma was saying my name at like a year and a half, when most kids haven't been able to say it til at LEAST 3 years old. At 2, she is potty trained. Kimmie says my name also, and does a lot of things that are "over her age" skills but they learned them on their own and they were ready. Do you think that if Michelle bought Emma a DVD on how to go pee in the potty before she was ready it would have worked? She may have learned about it, but it wouldn't have taught her the right way. She was ready, so it worked.

I just think "forcing" your children to learn before they are ready is stupid and will do more harm then good. Your kid is 2, it's not important for them to read yet. If they are ready to read, they will learn. You need to help your children learn and get in the habit of school and what not, but you can't force them to do it. What's the point? So you can brag and say "HA, my kid can read?" Who cares.

If people realize that every kid learns at a different rate and to different methods I think we wouldn't be so "behind" on our education. If you look at other countries they have more of a individual program for the kids. They understand each kid learns differently and they focus on that.

With that being said, I still say my niece and nephews are the smartest kids EVER.

Burping

I have this app on my phone that has sound effects and what not. There is a burping on and EVERYTIME you play it, this is Spencers reaction.

Memorial Day

We were over Pam and Richards yesterday and they got a new dishwasher which meant a big box! Emma decided she wanted to play in it. And Emmanuel started to push her around in it and I got some cute pictures.

And the post wouldn't be complete without a picture of my bug!

Update?

I should really update, but I'm at work which means all my good pictures are at home.

But I have uploaded some to facebook so I will just post links to them!

Therse are some pictures from Bear Lake the last two years

All the family was out for Easter and everything so here are all those pictures. If you want bigger copies, let me know and I will email them (as you can tell, I update just for my mom haha)

Taylor started soccer and I need to post those. I got some way cute ones, I think.

But besides that, my life is boring without Hockey on. And I don't have to teach SUnday School for about two months, which is nice. Bishop wanted all the singles to take the Family History class, so that's what we will be doing for the next 7 weeks. I'm actually excited about it. Mom did a lot of family history, but I'm very curious to do more on my dad's side. Maybe one day go to Poland. I can dream, eh?

Anyway, I should probably get back to "work"

I love Spring Time

It means going over Pam and Richards, and playing outside with Spencer and Emma and having picinics and just having fun. Last Saturady we spent all day outside, really. In the morning ran some errands and then went over Pam and Richards so Scott could work on the Corvette. Michelle and Emma, of course, were over too, so we played outside in the backyard and I got a lot of pictures.

Sorry, since I uploaded these to facebook first you have to click on them to see the whole picture!

Expect lots more pictures to come since Kimmie and David are coming to visit next week!
