I am officially not Relief Society President anymore, however I still have to act like I am!
With the changes with how they are doing YSA Wards they released everyone and are changing everything. Our ward was just for the Magna Central Stake and now it will cover ALL of Magna and the Hunter Stake in West Valley. Our Stake will cover a lot more! All the way out to Taylorsville and everywhere around it. We have our first Stake Conference this Sunday. Which means Spencer 8th Ward will no longer exist and we will now be the Magna Utah YSA Ward.
There are a lot of concerns with how this is going to work. Thankfully our Bishopric is staying the same, but still. We could have so many people that we have to have two sets of Relief Society and Priesthood. And the way I feel about it is, if we have enough for two, why didn't we just make two wards? But, that's not my decision. We will make the best of it.
I liked knowing everyone's name and I think we finally were not cliche anymore, which was great. So I'm worried it's now going to be "our" ward vs "theirs" but I'll have to figure out someway to not make it that way. But I have no idea what's going to happen with my calling but for now I will still act like Relief Society President. After that, who knows.
I know it's for the best though. I know this is coming from the First presidency and you can't deny the things they feel is best. Now, I don't like how they've flat out said they are doing this so more young people get married, but I also understand their fears and concerns. I look out and see a hug gap from the youth to the "married" and that scares them. Who will "run" the church when the "married" are gone, but the youth are still too young, or have fallen away? They fear that and I understand that. And I think being around people going through the same thing is going to be a huge bonus. And to know that our stake conferences will be about US and directed to US is a huge bonus.
So while it's crazy and new and worrisome, maybe, it's for the best. I know that. It's a new journey and we are all in the same boat together.
On that note though - A cute picture of me and my live bug watching hockey! GO WINGS!
