New job

So ever since I quit my old job I felt that the only job I would get would be at the post office. Well, I got it but it was not the best of hours. But I am thankful for it because it gave me a lot of money when I had run out of it.

Well, we got back from Michigan on Tuesday and on Weds I had an interview for a receptionist position. She never got the email that I was coming so I ended up sitting there for over an hour before she came back from lunch. I was annoyed. The pay for the job wasn't that great and I just was not in the mood.

I got a call later that day saying they offered me a job. Not the receptionist, but doing data entry. It's about $4 or $5 less then the post office, but after they hire me on (right now I'm hired on through a temp company) they pay health 100%. Which will be right around my birthday which is when I lose mom's insurance.

So that was the deciding factor for me. I went in Weds night and told the post office I would work the rest of the week and then I would start this new job on Monday. The hours are WAY better (8-4 instead of 4-midnight) and it's a SET schedule. I don't be sent home after two hours or made to work 10 hour days. 8-4, Mon-Fri.

I can always go back to the post office if this doesn't work out (if they are hiring, I don't have to go through training and stuff again, I can just get hired back on). So I'm nervous because I won't be making that much an hour. I know I will have more than enough money to get by and still put stuff away into my savings, but just not as much as I would have with the post office. Which means I probably won't go back to school for a year, but that's okay. The benefits outweigh everything else.

Pictures

One of Tinas friends does a photo challenge and I was bored so I decided to mess around with photoshop. I like some of them better than others, but here they are!

Shawn Horcoff

This is a whiny post, FYI.

One of the reasons i think it took me so long to move to Utah was because of hockey. I know, it's crazy, but it sucks out here without hockey! And it sucks even more when I find out I'm missing stuff.

For those of you who don't know next to Jiri Fischer, Shawn Horcoff is my favorite player. I have been a fan of his for years. He plays for Edmonton but went to Michigan State and his wife is from Michigan so he lives in Bloomfield Hills/Birmingham in the summer. He is friends with Chelios and Cleary so he trains out at Troy Sports Arena too.

Well, he is supposed to be doing a charity event Weds in East Lansing. Where you get to skate with the players and then get their autographs after AND OF COURSE I'M MISSING IT! Why couldn't it be like two weeks later when I'm there? It's only $10 and a lot of players I like will be there and of course I'm missing it!

I have his autograph. Two, actually. One a friend in Edmonton got for me and another was from when me and Jonathan (Tom's grandson) went up to State for a charity game he was playing in and I got his rookie card autographed and this picture. The guy let me go on the bench and take pictures and stupid me was too shy to actually go up and ask Horcoff for a picture together! So really, the only thing missing from my collection is a picture WITH him and maybe a personalized autograph (I have that of Chelios already!).

The only thing missing from my collection is a personal Fischer autograph (I have one we bought, but it's not the same as getting it in person ahah). But I doubt I will ever get that. One since he doesn't play anymore and two since his charity events are back in Michigan too!

I guess I'm just supposed to miss out on everything! Maybe I'll make a trip to Edmonton for a game this year! haha It's only like a 12 hour drive!

Job Offering

So I have spent the last month or two looking for jobs everyday for hours at end. I've have gotten a couple of interviews, but nothing has panned out. I guess I applied for a entry leveling marketing job. I don't remember doing it because I don't want that (thats just door to door sales). But I decided what the heck, I might as well go and see if i can do it. I get the first interview and get called back for a second one which is an all day thing. They said there would be a business lunch and than I would spend the day with one of their sales people.

Little did I know it was in Orem. So I got stuck driving down to Orem with 3 boys who all smoke and swear and are gross. Get there at around 11, which was after we stopped so the one guy could get cigarettes from his bother (and I dont think it was tobacco). So we get there, drop the other two guys off somewhere and me and this kid go out. Business to Business (which is better than door to door but not by much). No big deal. Getting turned down left and right. Being scared I was gonna die from this kid's driving. Just keeping my mouth shut and not saying a thing. One hour goes by, two hours.. three... four... Finally 3 o'clock rolls around and the other guys need to be picked up. So I thought yay we'd pick them up and I could go since it was supposed to be over by 5. (They told me 4:45 on the phone, the kid told me 5).

No such luck. They decided to go to ANOTHER place. While there he gets a call so we go to Pleasant Grove to help start a customer. That takes about 15 minutes. Than we head back and he totally just realized what time it was and that we didnt eat lunch. He said he rarely eats lunch because he doesn't like fast food. I said whatever, i'm not hungry because at this point I am beyond ready to just get home.

Than he realizes since we didn't have lunch that he needed to explain the business to me. While he is doing that, the other guy decides to go BACK OUT! So this explaining took 5 minutes (all while they are smoking and blowing it in my face). So for another 15 to 20 minutes we just wait. In the sun. He doesnt want to run his car because he is hoping he had enough gas to make it back(the car was beeping the whole time from low gas). So i'm sweating balls and by this point I had not had anything to drink in HOURS and hadn't had any food since 9 in the morning. (Thankfully I brought my water bottle with me but it only lasted and hour or two).

I'm fed up. We finally leave Orem at 4:30ish. Of course get stuck in some traffic and don't make it back to the office until 5:30 and than I have to go for the THIRD interview. I had to fill out the paper work stuff and it was so hard for me not to say how horrible they were. In Marketing it's not very female driven so I just didn't want to be the girl who couldn't handle it so I just said polite, but true things. I EVEN said how I don't think right now I'm cut out for the job, but in the future I might be.

They said they'd be making their decision tomorrow (today) and letting me know. So while Tina and Scott are signing the papers for their house I took the kids to the park (where Taylor hurt herself, of course). Than we went out to lunch and while waiting I got a phone call that I got the job. I was one of the lucky 4 people out of 150 that applied to get the job. I said no thank you, that I decided to take another job (which sadly isn't true haha). I thanked them blah blah blah. And than hung up.

I might be crazy, but I don't feel it's the time for me to drive to Orem/Provo EVERY DAY in hopes I make a big sale (you make 28% of the first sale, so if they only make a $45 sale thats not good for me). If i'm gonna drive that far i'm gonna get a job that I know at the end of the week will cover my bills.

I'm not surprised at the job, I'm surprised at the people in the job. That they are that open and cussing and smoking and talking about sex and everything. I can handle myself, but seriously. Sticking me in a car with three boys wasn't my idea of a fun/safe day at all.
